Artist bio:
Tomoo Gokita
Born in Tokyo in 1969.
In the latter half of the 90's, he attracted attention for his drawing works drawn on paper with pencil, charcoal and ink, and published his work collection "Lingerie Wrestling" in 2000. Starting with an exhibition in New York, he has held numerous solo exhibitions both in Japan and overseas. In recent years, he has been working on colorful works, breaking the dichotomy between abstract and concrete, and seamlessly connecting the two to develop a unique practice that shakes people's psychology. Participated in the "Abstract and Form: Things That Never Appear" exhibition at the DIC Kawamura Memorial Museum in 2012, and held a solo exhibition "THE GREAT CIRCUS" at the same museum in 2014, and in April 2018 at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery. Held a solo exhibition "PEEKABOO" and a solo exhibition "Get Down" at Dallas Contemporary in June 2021. "Shuffle Railroad Song" published by Natural Bunko (2010), "777" published by 888 Books (2015), "Holy Cow" Taka Ishii Gallery (2017), "PEEKABOO" Tokyo Opera City Cultural Foundation (2018) Year), "MOO" Taka Ishii Gallery (2021) and other works and exhibition catalogs published. Currently based in Tokyo.
