Artist bio:
Brassai
Real name Gyula Halasz.
Born in Brasov, Transylvania, Romania, he later called himself Brassai. In 1924, he moved to Paris and started photography under the guidance of André Kertés while earning a living as a journalist. In 1932, he published his first photo book "Paris by Night", which took pictures of the night in Paris while attending a cafe where many cultural figures and artists gathered at that time, and received a lot of attention. Other representative photo books include "Graffiti", which was taken with graffiti carved on the walls of buildings in the city for many years, and "The", which was published later after taking pictures of prostitutes in Paris in the 1930s. Secret Paris of the 30's ”and so on.
