An actress and producer, she was a top star of the Shōjo Revue before World War II and the first female film producer in Japan after the war.
Born in Hokkaido in 1915, she joined the Tokyo Shochiku Revue (later Shochiku Shoujo Revue) in 1928 as one of its first students and became a national idol with a fan club of several hundred thousand people under the name of "Otoko no Reijin" or "Taakii.
After retiring from stage acting in 1953, she joined Nikkatsu, which had just opened a new movie studio in 1954, as Japan's first female producer.
After producing her first film, "Hatsukoi Canary Girl," in 1955, she discovered many stars including Yujiro Ishihara, Ruriko Asaoka, Masako Izumi, Masumi Okada, and Masahiko Tsugawa, and famous directors such as Yasushi Nakahira and Koreyoshi Kurahara. The films he produced with his unique sense of smell, such as "Crazy Fruits," "The Foghorn Calls Me," "I'm Waiting," and "Monday's Yuka," were hit after hit, and he produced a total of 79 films before leaving Nikkatsu in 1970.
He continued to work as a television personality, jewelry artist, and in many other capacities.
