The Piece That Taught Me It’s All About
How You Wear It ー SPIEWAK

WILDSIDE’s Featured items: An In-Depth Review

In fashion, it’s not just the appeal of the item itself, but who wears it, and how.
The modern form would be the influencer. It’s intriguing to me that an item that seemed drab and colorless the day before can suddenly become alluring and beautiful.
The G-8 FLIGHT JACKET from SPIEWAK was the same. It was originally a military jacket used by the American Navy in the mid-1950s to mid-1970s, but became famous in the late 80s to 90s. Mark Gonzales, who had solidified his popularity as “the world’s most influential skateboarder”, loved this jacket.
For this reason, it came to be called the “Gonz Jacket”. I still remember idolizing the way he established this jacket into the culture.

WILDSIDE has given a modern update to this now almost-unattainable piece.
The original nylon material has been updated to Yohji Yamamoto Inc.’s proprietary high-quality Wool Gabardine.
Other small changes have been made as well, such as the addition of a thin inner lining.

The final product is not simply a resurrection, but was retouched for modern sensibility. Memories of that old idolization pass through my mind as I put my arms through these sleeves.
