Born in Tokyo in 1947.
He made his debut as a leading actor in the Nikkatsu film "Blue Fruit" in 1965.
Her film credits include Nikkatsu's "Stray Cat Rock" series, Toei's "Female Prisoner Scorpion" series, Toho's "Shurayukihime" series, Shochiku's "Bad Guys", ATG's "Sonezakishinju", and many others.
She received the Yale French Actress Award in 1975 for "Onna Jigaku Scorpion" and "Shura Yuki Hime", the Blue Ribbon Award in 1978 for "Sonezaki Shinju", the Mainichi Film Concours, the Kinema Junpo Best Ten, the Hochi Film Award for Best Actress, the Montreal World Film Festival Special Jury Prize, and other major awards.
She has appeared in "Amerika Monogatari," "Kaze no Bon Bon," "Junjo Nagaragawa" (NHK), "Bunzui Mine" (MBS), "Terauchi Kantaro Ichika" (TBS), "Tokiyo Hana no Gotoku! Onihei Hankacho," "Chushingura," "Kenkaku Shobai" (Fuji TV), and many other TV dramas.
In recent years, he has appeared in such high-profile productions as "Yu Yu Hakusho" (NETFLIX) and "What I Ate Yesterday" (TV Tokyo).

As a singer, she won the 1973 Japan Cable Awards for Excellence with "Grudge" (1.2 million copies), an insert song for the Toei movie "Onnajaku Scorpion," and has released many LPs and singles.

In 2024, she released her first full-length album in six years.
